Family meals delivered: easy weeknight dinners in the Barossa

The short answer: family meals delivered means home-cooked dinners that arrive chilled and only need heating. For a family of four, a 12-meal bundle covers three dinners and a 16-meal bundle covers four. In the Barossa we deliver on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays, and orders close at 3 pm the day before.
Weeknights in a family house have a pattern: school pick-up, sport, homework, a late finish for someone, and then the question nobody wants at 5:30 pm. Having a few home-cooked dinners already in the fridge changes the whole week. Here’s how family meal delivery works, and how to get the numbers right.
What makes a good family meal delivery?
- Real food, not party food. Protein, vegetables and something filling, the way you’d cook it at home.
- Familiar flavours. Dishes the kids recognise get eaten. Save the adventurous ones for the grown-ups.
- Single portions. Everyone can pick their own, and nobody is stuck with the one dish they don’t like.
- Heat and eat. Minutes in the microwave or oven, not another round of cooking.
- A menu that changes. So the family doesn’t tire of it by week three.
What will the kids actually eat?
Every family is different, but the familiar dishes are the easy place to start. Our menu rotates every week. Recent weeks have included:
- Italian meatballs and sweet potato mash: beef meatballs in a tomato, garlic and herb sauce.
- Honey mustard chicken, roasted with potatoes, carrots and green beans.
- Creamy coconut chicken and pumpkin curry with rice.
- Chicken & quinoa salad: lemon-herb chicken over quinoa with greens and roasted pumpkin (vegan option).
- Roast pumpkin and lentil cottage pie under golden mashed potato, which is vegan.
A dish like our sweet potato chilli is marked spicy on the menu, so it may suit the adults more than the little ones. Not sure? Choose the chef’s choice mix, or tell us in the notes who you’re feeding.
How many meals feed a family for the week?
Multiply the people by the dinners you want covered. Leftover single portions make an easy lunch the next day.
| Household | Dinners covered | Bundle | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two adults | 4 nights | 8 meals | $105 |
| Family of three | 4 nights | 12 meals | $130 |
| Family of four | 3 nights | 12 meals | $130 |
| Family of four | 4 nights | 16 meals | $155 |
| Family of five | 3 nights, plus a spare lunch | 16 meals | $155 |
Delivery is $5 within the Barossa Valley and $15 outside the Barossa (Gawler / Northern Suburbs). Young children often share or eat smaller serves, so a family with toddlers can usually stretch a bundle further. For the cost-per-meal maths, see is meal prep delivery worth it?
Delivery days and the order cut-off
We deliver on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays across the Barossa, and orders close at 3 pm the day before. A Sunday delivery sets up the start of the school week; a Wednesday delivery gets you through to the weekend.
Because we’re a small family kitchen, days can book out. The order page shows which days are open. If your day is full, pick another or join the waitlist if it’s showing. If we’re ever taking a short break from meal bundles, the order page will say so.
Vegan and vegetarian family meals
Vegan dishes are a regular part of our rotation, such as the roasted vegetable ragu over penne and the roast pumpkin and lentil cottage pie, and some other dishes come with a vegan option. If you have a mix of eaters at home, a bundle can include both. Allergies and dietary needs go in the order notes. Our kitchen handles common allergens (including gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts, soy and sesame), so we can’t promise any dish is completely free of traces. If someone has a severe allergy, call us on 0406 288 148 before you book and we’ll talk it through honestly.
Storing and reheating for a family
- Unpack the meals into the fridge as soon as they arrive. FSANZ advises keeping perishable food at 5°C or colder (FSANZ: Food safety basics).
- Eat the meals with the shortest life first, and freeze anything you know you won’t reach in the next few days.
- Reheat one portion at a time until it’s steaming hot right through, and check the middle before serving the kids.

Homemade meals, delivered by a local family
Whatever you call it (home-made meal delivery, homemade meals delivered, handmade meals or weekly meal prep), it’s the same idea: real dinners, cooked from scratch in small batches by a family in the Barossa, then delivered to your door. We deliver right across the Valley, including Tanunda, Nuriootpa and Angaston.
